The sixth locomotive in CSX’s new heritage series is here! Locomotive 1850, designed and painted at the CSX Locomotive Shop in Waycross, Georgia, honors the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Originally chartered in 1850, the L&N grew into a vital transportation link between the Gulf Coast and the nation’s heartland. It was eventually absorbed by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, which subsequently became part of the Chessie System and, ultimately, today’s CSX. | CSX

The 20th CSX heritage locomotive, Locomotive #1902, honors the Clinchfield Railroad, originally chartered to serve coal mines in eastern Kentucky, Western Virginia, and Eastern Tennessee. We're excited to announce that #1902 will make its inaugural run with this year's #CSXSantaTrain, a legacy dating back to the Clinchfield's "Santa Claus Special" in 1943. On August 25th, 2019, CSX Transportation delivered locomotive no. 1100 to Kentucky Steam at Ravenna Yard. 1100, former L&N no. 5000, is an EMD SW1500 type diesel-electric locomotive that once served the Louisville & Nashville Railroad in Ravenna sorting coal trains around the yard in the 1970s. The donated locomotive will allow the non-profit the ability to switch out historic rail equipment on the Heritage Center's property.
