When drawing dog noses I like to break the process up into sections and layers. My first goal is to get the placement of the nostrils correct and then the shape of the nose mapped in. Once that is accurate I can start to work on creating the three dimensional shape. This is achieved by good contrast and ensuring that any highlights or shadows follow the correct curves. Another little study focusing on how to draw a dog nose in graphite :D. I like to focus on creating the 3D shape of the nose at the very first layer. This is usually done by mapping in the nostrils and how they begin to curve at the edges. Then I beggin to map in the placement of the main highlights and shadows which really help in creating shape and form.
