Each year, thousands of bats lose their lives to be used as ornamentals in a rising demand for taxidermy bats. The Painted Wooly Bat (Kerivoula picta) from Asia is of particular concern. This bat has been listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN as a result of the trade of bat tadidermy.
