Their body starts using extra muscles to help. This includes the chest, shoulders and neck. This is called accessory muscle use. You might see the head bob forward with each breath as the neck muscles contract to lift the chest and pull more air into the lungs. At the end of the day, you don’t need to remember the medical terms.
