Many people like a dowel rod or PVC pass through, I prefer a banded pass through. The main reason I prefer it is that it doesn't force the shoulders, there is some leeway, forcing you to more actively control the range of motion instead of forcing it. A case can definitely be made that each is better than the other for different reasons. No arguing that. I do prefer the band to be stiffer so there is some resistance to help stretch the shoulders more. When you pass through over your head, shrug
