The Battle of Britain was a pivotal part of the Second World War. It was the first major battle fought entirely in the air and involved more than 2500 RAF aircrew who defended the UK from the Luftwaffe. Ahead of the 83rd anniversary of the battle, we met with Second World War veteran Jeff Brereton, a former RAF mechanic who worked on Hurricanes. 80 years ago, the Battle of Britain formally ended. Over 113 days the RAF had tirelessly defended UK skies. 544 RAF aircrew lost their lives, as well as 312 RAF ground crew.
