If you find squash borer damage like this at the base of your squash plant, but the plant still looks fairly robust and lively, BURY THE STEM ASAP and water it. Why? SVB damage can cause the plant to lose access to water and nutients. This is why they often look wilted, right before they decline completely. Squash plants are vines, and when you bury the damaged stem, it may grow extra roots to help support the plant. This is definitely not a guarantee, but it can help in some cases. #garden #gar

In this video you see a bug and some tiny eggs. That’s a squash bug. They can do a lot of damage. My preferred strategy is to find them and use tape to remove the eggs. It’s more work than pesticides, but at least I’m not eating pesticides. To double your benefit in disrupting their lifecycle you can spray the plants with neem oil.
