🦗 Conservation Week – Day Three 🦗 Today we’re celebrating one of Aotearoa’s most extraordinary creatures — the Mahoenui giant wētā. Often called the gentle giants of the insect world, these incredible animals are nationally critical and found only here in New Zealand. At the Otorohanga Kiwi House, we’re proud to be the only facility in the world breeding Mahoenui giant wētā for release back into safe, predator-free habitats. Each wētā raised by our team is another step towards securing the fut
