The snow had to be the last element to go into this Barn Owl drawing. This is the same when drawing whiskers or in bird portraits, the feathers that are sat on the very top of everything else. As the snow was in front of the bird, adding these over the existing pastel is not only much easier and quicker but it adds more depth and therefore realism to the entire piece.
