Opah are distinctive fish caught by U.S. pelagic fisheries. Two species of opah are landed in San Diego, where NOAA scientists are working collaboratively with @CatalinaOffshoreProducts to collect the data needed to understand the opah’s behavior, diet, age, growth, and reproduction. These data are essential as they will allow us to develop management strategies for this little-known fish. At this point, NOAA does not have a specific management plan for opah.
