USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67), the final conventionally powered aircraft carrier constructed for the United States Navy, has begun its final journey toward dismantling after nearly four decades of service. Commissioned on September 7, 1968, and officially decommissioned on August 1, 2007, this Kitty Hawk-class carrier was built by Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia.
