Based on the successful Beech Model 18 airliner and a modified bomber designed for China, the AT-11 was used by the Army Air Forces to train Bombardiers and Aerial Gunners during World War II. The standard Model 18 was modified with a Plexiglas nose for a Norden bombsight, a bomb bay capable of carrying 1,000 pounds of bombs, and flexible guns in the nose and on top.
