Mountain hunting for dall sheep and caribou during opening week of hunting season is about as good as it gets. Especially when the weather cooperates, like it was here. This fly in hunt we did was incredibly memorable because we got solid 7 days of incredible weather, hardly any wind, almost no mosquitoes (…how?), and we ended up walking away with 2 big mountain caribou to fill our freezers. Dall Sheep Research - The Alaska Department of Fish and Game just completed stage 2 of the Brooks Range Dall’s Sheep Research project. In June of 2023, 50 GPS collars were deployed on young rams in both Gates of The Arctic National Park and in portions of Game Management Units 24A and 25A.
