These pygmy hogs are the world’s smallest pigs, measuring less than 30cm tall when fully grown. Sadly they are in the critically endangered list but intensive conservation efforts are bringing this species back. Found in the tall grasslands of the southern Himalayan foothills, the smallest pig in the world is also the rarest. Loss and degradation of the pygmy hog's habitat threaten to wipe out the species, but successful reintroductions offer some hope for the future.
