Also, T-shirt thickness makes a difference as well. A softer, thinner shirt will make lighter yarn. Use an ironing board or some kind of device that will allow you to easily turn the shirt as you cut. Cut off the hem and set it aside, you won’t need it. This is how I make T-Shirt Yarn- I am using a rotary cutter to do the strips. It is a lot easier to get a straight line. You could use scissors for that.
