Thyroid ultrasounds are used to evaluate thyroid nodules. It’s a painless procedure that helps to accurately measure the size of the nodule, determine how many nodules are in the thyroid and what the nodules look like. All this information is used to decide if the nodule/s need to be biopsied. The ultrasound will also look at the lymph nodes in the neck to determine if they’re enlarged.
